Play Farkle Dice Game

Play Farkle Dice GameFarkle Classic Dice Game

You can tell a lot about a person by the way they play Farkle Dice Game. See, Farkle is a game of chance… and everyone approaches it differently.

Farkle Dice Game Instructions

It’s simple, you roll six dice, and every time you come up with a one or a five, you set those dice aside for points, (a one is 100 points, and a five is 50) and then you have the chance to roll again with the remaining dice. You can keep rolling, and accumulating points as long as a one or a five shows up. The fewer dice you have, the lower your chances… but… if you manage to get them all, you can pick up all six dice and continue to gather points.

A friend of mine, who is so ultra conservative with her money that she practically makes Scrooge look reckless, generally stops at one or two rolls. She will never roll again with less than 4 dice. She prefers a slow and steady increase over the chance at raking in the big points.

My daughter loves to keep rolling. Even when she Farkles (fails to roll a one or five), and she loses all the accumulated points, she doesn’t lose her willingness to keep trying. (Making a note to keep her out of Las Vegas as LONG as possible.)

The game itself is simple… you roll, you get points, first to a set number (say 10,000) wins. It’s a lot of luck, and a lot of nerve.

-a one is worth 100 points

-a five is worth 50 points

-certain combinations are worth big jumps in points… say you roll three 6′s… that’s worth 600 points. You also earn points for four of a kind, straights, five of a kind and the magical six of a kind. (combination rolls need to be natural, no combining different rolls). Luckily, the point chart is written on the Farkle cup, so you don’t have to memorize.

-Rolling a Farkle (a roll with no ones, fives or combinations) means losing all points gathered in that turn. And it ends your turn (and my kids will yell “TOTAL FARKLE” at you).

What comes with the Game?

Farkle comes with six 6 sided dice.

A dice cup

A Point chart.

A Score sheet ( We generally supply our own pencil and piece of paper for keeping score.)

If you stick a golf pencil into the cup, the game is highly transportable. (There is even a mini-pocket version of the game, but I can’t play it without my glasses…. too tiny!)
