Honestly, I have no idea why board games that have loads of pieces that you need to manipulate on a board don’t come with a proper board game player board overlays that will keep them in place.

It seems like such a simple fix to keep all those little bits from sliding around, and keeps the scoring honest. (I’m looking at you Azul!)

Ark Nova Player Board Overlays

Not only do these overlays look great, they keep all of the personal components secure… this is a long game, and things can get messy. Both overlays have a wooden back to hold the player board in place. You can choose from an Acrylic or Wooden cover. Both allow the player board to be clearly seen.

Terraforming Mars Player Board Overlay

Why why WHY would the Terraforming Mars Player board have 6 different tracks without some way to keep the counter cube in place?!? It’s just too easy for things to go sideways.
Acrylic Player board overlays for Terraforming Mars come as simple lay-ons, and more complex front and back covers (these are more expensive, but worth it if you play a lot…you can just leave them on). You can find also find beautiful wood player boards. They cost more, but look fantastic! (I got the wood for my son’s set, and he’s delighted! The overlays even fit beautifully in the original box)

Space Base

Space Base is one of those games with a fiddly way to keep track of resources. One table bump and the cubes fly. We LOVE these score track overlays. They break down into 3 easy to assemble parts.

Azul Overlay

Azul is a fabulous game with beautiful components… and then you have a teensy cube that you are supposed to slide along the score track. One nudge, and it goes flying. It feels like such an oversight to such a well thought out game.
Luckily, there’s a fix… Acrylic (the ones we use) or wood player board overlays keep all pieces and the score track set. Or you can get JUST THE SCORETRACK overlay (which is a pretty cheap fix!). That wood is GORGEOUS!
